Since 2015, Sound Legends Company, commonly referred to as 'SLC,' has served as a pivotal hub for innovative artists, musicians, and adventurous DJs who explore musical treasures. What initially started as a group of musically gifted friends casually jamming in a basement has evolved into a renowned Event Experience brand, boasting a worldwide network of artists and enthusiasts. They are all united by a shared passion for boundary-pushing music that transcends traditional genres.

'Hollaback' stands as one of Toronto's highly awaited R&B music events, a testament to the expansion of SLC. In my role as the Co-Founder and Creative Director of both the company and the event, we felt compelled to express our heartfelt appreciation to the community for their unwavering support. To commemorate this, we are unveiling an exclusive, limited-edition apparel collection, drawing inspiration from the Philippine Community, coinciding with their Independence Day.

When I initially conceived this idea, my desire was to take full ownership of the entire process, from its inception to its realization. To bring it to life, I partnered with a local production house to craft a unique, tailor-made box-fitted shirt entirely manufactured in Canada. The design was influenced by the handprinted typography signage prevalent in the Philippines, incorporating elements such as vibrancy, playfulness, and a two-tone drop shadow style to capture the essence of this concept.

Reference: As a Canadian-Filipino one of the many skills I've been fascinated by the country was their effortless talent and penmanship for typography and signage. The country is flooded with these vibrant handprinted signs plastered on Jeepney's (a small bus, often colorfully decorated, created by converting a jeep), storefronts, restaurants, and day-to-day signage.
Concept Stages
Going through garment measurements, artwork placement, pantones, printing, to heat transfer.
Final Product Photoshoot
Final visuals from the product shoot at Bahay Canvas Studios in Toronto. The set needed to pay tribute to the Philippines so we designed it to have a very 'home-like' welcoming feel. Almost interpreting what an interior decoration would look like in the Philippines. Displaying a lot of handcrafted style woods, warm tones, greenery, and of course Whang-Od's vogue feature!
